Golf Construction and Maintenance

Irwins are the main suppliers of top dressing sands, rootzone mixes and bunker sands for golf courses in Ulster.

We manufacture HS Masters Top Dressing Sand, which is the most widely used sand by golf courses in the province. To compliment this sand we also manufacture a more refined version called DC sand, this is primarily used as summer top dressing sand, it has 100% of particles passing 1mm and less than 1% passing 150 micron. We also manufacture a finer sand, Grade S, which is most suitable for the tight swards of Links Courses. Our Zone 3 sand is used as a high quality Fairway Top Dressing. The gradings of these sands are detailed in the table below.

In addition to this we manufacture USGA Rootzone Mixes and sand/soil mixes for tee and green construction.

For Bunkers we supply Wicklow White Bunker sand, which is the premier bunker sand for courses throughout Ireland.

We supply a range of grits and gravels for Drainage and a range of colourful self-binding gravels for Pathways. These can also be used along with our Agrablock gravel stabilisation system, which can also be used as a grassblock for heavily trafficked areas. This system is ideal for carts to move across and is great where disability access is required.
